Where is Simon Gamache!!, He played for the Val D'or Foreurs, In 3 seasons, He had 2 100 plus points, (1999-00 124, and 2000-01 184 points!), In 2001 he lead them to the 2001 Memorial Cup Final losing to Red Deer in Overtime, he also lead the tournament in scoring.

@ Boston,

Your objection is reasonable, but Guards simply doesn't have the awards to stack up against Blackburn. Part of my criterion was individual achievement. No WHL Goaltender of the Year awards, No CHL Goaltender of the Year awards. Guards might have better numbers but he lacks the achievement. One also has to remember, Blackburn racked up his numbers at 17, Guard at 19 and 20. OA goaltenders routinely put up better stats.

@ Matt

I considered both Taylor Hall and Ryan Ellis. They had a few knocks against them. One was that I wasn't sure I should consider players still playing. Second, was that Ellis has never been CHL Defenseman of the Year, Hall has never been CHL Player of the Year, neither has won the Red Tilson trophy in the OHL. They're both excellent hockey players though, and this is no knock against them.

Totally agree with both of the Radulov and Russell selections for (#3 and #4). I know there are a lot of people that remember how could he "could have been" in the NHL right now because its fresh in our minds, but I fear people are going to forget for the sole reason that he's on the other side of the planet.

"there was no middleweight defenseman that more typified a warrior than Kris Russell." is a perfect comment that really summed up the smallish trend in juniors. And I love that you went out west to the Dub to find someone to represent it.

One quick question: Did Taylor Hall not make it because he's still playing? Or because you didn't think he made the Top 10?

May wanna check Kelly Guards numbers over a 2 year span before saying no one has matched Blackburns dominance. Guard took the Rockets to the Memorial Cup, losing in the final in his first season. Then won the Memorial Cup in his second season. His numbers, including 13 shutouts speak for themselves.

By no means was Dan Blackburn the best goalie in the decade in the CHL, let alone the WHL. Obviously someone from the East who looked at stats.
