Ray Emery to miss 6 weeks after abdominal surgery

Flyers goaltender Ray Emery has suffered an abdominal tear and will undergo surgery that will see him miss about six weeks.

The 27-year-old has been placed on injured reserve and backup Brian Boucher will get the start tonight against the Islanders.

The injury was sustained roughly three weeks ago, and Emery had tried to play through it but was unable to do so.

The surgery is likely to take place on Wednesday.
