Corey Perry is on fire

Now that he has tied Teemu Selanne’s club record of 17 consecutive games with at least a point, Ducks right wing Corey Perry can take dead aim at Wayne Gretzky’s NHL record.
Not so fast. Perry’s only one-third of the way there as Gretzky got a point in 51 in a row during the 1983-84 season for one of The Great One’s many marks that won’t be broken much less approached.
Perry’s streak, the NHL’s longest this season, was extended in the first period Friday when Perry ironically fed Selanne for a power-play goal in the Ducks’ 3-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Like the streak matters to him.
“Things are just going well for us,” Perry said. “It’s not something I’m thinking about. It’s just going. I’m just trying to get the team wins and doing my best out there.”
Perry was more proud of the defensive effort his line put in against Chicago’s big trio of Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa that was put together by Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville upon Hossa’s debut Wednesday night.

I didn’t know it was 17 games, wow, that is really impressive.
He is a Team Canada lock, he will play a strong 3rd line role on that team.
Perry’s finally going to set the elite form that’s been eluding him the past few seasons.
Fantastic player, just never seemed able to get these kinds of streaks going.
