NYIslanderslogo

The New York Islanders will finally get to play a home game. After a long seven game road trip, the Islanders will welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to town in a battle of the back-up goaltenders.

Martin Biron will get the call for the Islanders to face his former club while Brian Boucher will be in net for the Flyers.

The Islanders are coming off a seven game road trip where they went 3-2-2. The most recent was a 58 save overtime win performance by Dwayne Roloson and his Islander teammates over the Toronto Maple Leafs from the ACC.

Tonight’s line up (subject to change):

Trent Hunter provides an offensive veteran presnece on the top line for rookie John Tavares and youngster Matt Moulson (or shall we say #MightyMattMoulson).

With the home crowd behind them tonight, an early start from the Islanders and keeping out of the penalty box are two keys for tonights game. Also, the Islanders will want to force the Flyers into playing irresponsible hockey tonight. The more penalties they take, the better the chances will be for a victory.

In yet another vital test to see how the Islanders gauge against the rest of the league, a victory against the Flyers this evening will only prove that they are on the up and have sights set on a playoff appearance.

Quick hits:

A match up of match-ups to follow tonight will be between two Calder trophy names in Tavares and James van Reimsdyk of the Flyers.

Martin Biron is making his first appearance against his former club. This is the first meeting of six for the year between both teams.
