The Montreal Canadiens have traded Guilluame Latendresse to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Benoit Pouliot.

Latendresse, 22, has scored two goals and recorded one assist so far this season.

The forward who was drafted in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, has recorded 48 goals and 37 assists in 232 career NHL games.

Pouliot, 23, has two goals and two assists in 14 games with the Wild this season. In 65 career NHL games, the fourth selection in the 2005 draft has nine goals and nine assists.

Pouliot is presently out of the lineup with an upper-body injury, last playing on Nov. 13.

”The forwards are two players at the same stage in their careers who were still looking to make a place for themselves with the teams that drafted them,” Canadiens GM Bob Gainey said in a release. ”Often times a different environment, new teammates and a new situation can be beneficial for a player.”
