		<description>The islanders have been a very pleasant surprise thus far, as have my Atlanta Thrashers. It&#039;s funny what the &quot;experts&quot; know and don&#039;t. If you look at the experts&#039; picks to this point they also totally blew the call on the Avalanche, Carolina, and Boston.

I think sometimes teams that haven&#039;t enjoyed recent success are just automatically slated as bottom dwellers by &quot;experts&quot; without a very good look, either because they haven&#039;t done well in the recent past or are not in &quot;traditional&quot; markets.

I&#039;m glad to see that some teams in this conference have turned the tables around and are making this an interesting season. Now all we have to do is knock off Pittsburgh and Philly and the hated Rangers and the Isles and Thrashers can fight it out for the Eastern Conference finals..</description>
