Marc Savard about to sign extension with Bruins?

The Bruins have to make sure they can get him re-signed and by the looks of it he will be. Good on the Bruins for locking up their core but if it were me it would have been Lucic, Savard and Kessel instead of Lucic, Savard and Krejci.
They need Kessel’s scoring instead of another play maker like Krejci, that way they have a first line of a passer, scorer and power forward. Now they have a power forward, passer and another passer, except he is a 2nd liner.
Much like Milan Lucic in October, 32-year-old center Marc Savard later this month – most likely around Thanksgiving – is expected to extend his contract with the Bruins. At the end of a four-year deal that brought him $5 million a season, Savard is likely to average in the $6 million-$6.5 million range for another four or five seasons, bringing Boston’s payroll to upward of $49 million for next season, with only Derek Morris ($3.3 million this season) remaining as a pricy free agent extension. The Bruins’ struggles with Savard and Lucic sidelined only add to Savard’s leverage. Keep in mind: As of July 1, Chiarelli is free to extend the contracts of Zdeno Chara and Bergeron, both of whom that day will be one year from reaching unrestricted free agency.
