Today Fan’s blog corner is NJ Devils spotlight. Today questions are asked to Todd who is a great blogger and you find him at http://nhltalk202.com/ or on twitter http://twitter.com/ToddNHLTALK2 he is a great person to follow and has great knowledge when it comes to the Devils.

The Devils have been a playoff team for years and this year should be no exception but tell me why are the Devils a playoff team.

The New Jersey Devils as always are a defensive team, with the “trap” defense and Brodeur in net you are most likely to make the playoffs regardless if you have any offense or not, but this is not the case as the top 2 lines for New Jersey are very offensive, the best part is they are all 2 way players, Parise scores 45 + goals a year yet he always comes back hard to help out defensively, I can’t think of any other 45 goal scorer that plays D as good as Parise, the number 1 line is just unstoppable (Pairse, Zajac, Langenbrunner) you can shut them down offensively for 45 minutes but they will always manage to get on the score sheet, the chemistry there is just incredible, the revamped line 2 has been great all season long (Bergfors, Zubrus, Rolston) and will have some major help coming as Elias is expected back soon. Another reason the Devils ARE a playoff team is the defensive help coming from forwards, when Lemaire puts out line 1, 2, 3 or 4 he can always expect a solid defensive effort even from the tough guys like Andrew Peters, PL3 and David Clarkson. Every year many people underrate the Devils defense and say they need to get better if they want to make the playoffs, well they are proving the haters wrong again, what I like so much about this D is they are tough, they know the system and they know they have to play it to be in the lineup.

Glad you mentioned Parise he is probably one of the most underrated super stars in the game he is a great player. Elias will be a factor and I do agree that Langenbrunner is one of the best two way players in the game.  Rolston has one of the best hard shots in the game he was a great pick up by the Devils. Lemaire is one of the best coaches in the game he knows how to win he is a winner.  Brodeur is one of the best goalies in the league he will win plenty of games all by himself. This guy Todd knows his stuff great job buddy.

Now  I know why you think the Devils are a playoff team but most people consider them a boring team tell us why this team is a exciting team?
People should be excited about the Devils now more then ever, most people don’t watch Devils hockey because it is “boring” and they are not “offensive” or no fun to watch, well this team is different, same style, same system different players, they hit, they score, they fight, we finally have a superstar (not named Brodeur, Stevens or Niedermayer) who is a threat to score every time he is on the ice and his name is Zach Parise, he is so quick and flashy and can score anytime he has the puck, the best part about the Devils is they have a very bright future with a ton of young talent Parise, Zajac, Bergfors, Halischuk, Clarkson, and guys like Josefson, Cormier, Young, and Mattias Tedenby (who some people think may be the next Henrik Zetterberg). All in all the Devils are a fun team to watch so give them a chance and put them on.

I love the way you put this team has a super star that the fans can be excited about I totally agree Zach Parise is a awesome young and more important talented hockey player.  The other player you mentioned that I am very familiar with is Zajac he is a multi talented forward who has great vision with great hands he is a very exciting young player. The Devils look like they have a lot of talent and  I will especially look forward to watching Mattias Tedenby he seems like awesome prospect. Thanks again for your great knowledge Todd about the Devils.

Again I am really enjoying these fan corner blogs I am learning about all the teams in the league and more and more about there talent.  Thanks again Todd for this week addition of Fans Corner blog.

Until next time take care

Randy.
