Light Sunday schedule

With the NHL not wanting to compete with the NFL, Sunday’s are pretty quite on the games front but today sees two interesting match ups between the St.Louis Blues and the Atlanta Thrashers and the Edmonton Oilers and the Colorado Avalanche.
Edmonton – Colorado Preview:
Last 10: Edmonton 4-6-0; Colorado 7-2-1
Season series: Second of six meetings this season. Craig Anderson stopped all 25 Edmonton shots for his second shutout of the season and Wojtek Wolski scored twice as Colorado won 3-0 at Rexall Place on Oct. 27 as part of a road trip through Western Canada. Milan Hejduk’s goal 25 seconds into the game held up as the game-winner.
Big story: Colorado is the last team in the NHL without a loss on home ice this season (6-0-0), a streak the Avalanche kept intact by edging Chicago in the shootout on Friday. Edmonton has fallen on hard times after getting off to a quick start — the Oilers have lost six of their last seven, and this is the beginning of a five-game road trip that takes them east to face Ottawa, Buffalo, Atlanta and Columbus.

St.Louis – Atlanta Preview:
BLUES (5-6-3) at THRASHERS (6-6-1)
Last 10: St. Louis 3-4-3; Atlanta 4-5-1Season series: These teams meet for the second and final time this season. Atlanta paid a visit to the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on Oct. 8 and left with a 4-2 victory as part of its 4-1-0 start. Ilya Kovalchuk scored a power-play goal and an empty-netter to back up the 29-save performance of Ondrej Pavelec. The Blues received a goal and an assist from Keith Tkachuk.
Big story: Since Kovalchuk went down with a broken foot that will keep him out for several more weeks, the Thrashers have gradually come back down to earth. Their 6-3 loss Saturday night on Long Island was their sixth in eight games since the fast start. The Blues have struggled to find any sort of consistency after starting the season overseas, going 3-6-3 since a two-game sweep of Detroit in Stockholm.
