Fans corner: Flyers spotlight with our own Anthony

Today’s Fan Corner Blog spotlight is on the Flyers. Today’s fan commentator is Anthony Anthony Curatolo, a philly fantatic. Anthony can be found at http://twitter.com/ACHockeyGuys. He blogs at several sites including Crash The Crease. I highly recommend following him, he has he has knowledge beyond his years.
I personally feel that the Flyers are a playoff team, but what do I know? No, really, I don’t know much, so tell me: Why are the Flayers a playoff team?
The Flyers are a playoff team this year to me because of the balance of the line up and roster. From the forward units, all four lines can chip in and score a goal and know their roles and play them perfectly. The defense has been drastically overhauled with the addition of one name: Chris Pronger, and Ray Emery is better then Biron, Ceckmanek, and Hackett, and is on par to be as good as Esche was. That says something, considering Esche was the better of the four mentioned to me. Biron brought us to an ECF, as did Esche, but Esche was just the better goalie all around.
When you think of the Flyers, you truly realize their defense is led by Pronger, he is a monster and they have the best defense in the League. I told everyone that would listen that the biggest or the most underrated free agent signing is Ray Emery. He is a great goalie. The Flyers have one of best teams in depth in the NHL, they will have plenty of scoring up front. Great job, Anthony.
My favorite Flyer currently is Mike Richards, and of all time is Ron Hextall. Hextall was the man, and had a temper like no other. He was just pure fun to watch. Richie is the best. He does it all, and his style of play is amazing.
Philly has some awesome forwards and yes, I love Richards. He might very well be the best captain in the league. He is a terrific all-round player, a great choice by Anthony.
So we know why you think the Flyers are a playoff team, and who your favorite player is. Why should we be excited about this team?
The Flyers are exciting to watch because of the type of team they construct. That Broad Street Bullies type attitude, no matter how much some may hate it, brings such a constant joy to the game. They hit everything in sight, and have such intensity during each shift that the games are very upbeat and fun to watch. The Flyers are just a fun club, tons of speed, tons of offense, and tons of power. You get the best of everything out of this club, how could one not appreciate what that brings to hockey?
I love a no crap attitude from a hockey team as long as they keep it in perspective. I am glad that you brought up the speed on the Flyers. People really do not know how fast Carter is and Giroux, for that matter, is a speedster. Another great point by Anthony.
Anthony, thanks
Until next time take care.
