Canucks trying to sign Peter Forsberg?

The Peter Forsberg watch is heating up and with rumors of him signing in the next few weeks there have been reports of him signing in KHL, the New York Rangers and now the Vancouver Canucks have entered the mix and Mike Gillis is confident that Vancouver can land Forsberg.

The Vancouver Canucks feel they are strong contenders to sign Peter Forsberg if the 36-year old decides to return to the National Hockey League next week.

According to a Globe and Mail report, Canucks general manager Mike GIllis has close ties to Forsberg’s agent Don Baizley, which means the club is on the Swedish star’s short list.

The Canucks have about $2 million in cap space available to sign Forsberg.
