Tuukka Rask tied up long term

The Boston Globe is reporting that the Boston Bruins have signed prospect goaltender, Tuukka Rask to a contract extension through the 2011-2012 season. The deal which was inked earlier today is rumored to be around the $1.5 mil a year range.
For Boston Bruins fans, this has to be a sigh of relief in a week plagued with both injuries, and illnesses. Moreover, it couldn’t have worked out any better for cap issues. If all goes as planned, the B’s will now have two keepers at under $7 million, one of which has to be considered one of the best prospect goalies in the league right now.
This is good new for a Bruins team looking for a positive. He’ll get his chance to prove his worth tonight as he will most likely barring any problems get the start versus the Habs. At this point, it’s not advantageous to say that the Boston Bruins have the best goalkeeper tandem in the league.
Last year’s Vezina/Jennings winner and the best goalie prospect in the league sounds about right. In a year that will breed some serious young talented goaltenders going on the market, shoring up the talent has to be piece of mind for Peter Chiarelli.
Expect to hear the chants for Tuukka tonight at the Garden, I know I will.
