Shane O’Brien suspended for one game

The NHL has suspended Vancouver Canucks defenseman Shane O’Brien for one game for his altercation from the bench with Sean Avery during Tuesday’s game against the New York Rangers.

While O’Brien and Avery were at their own benches, Shane O’Brien leaned over and poked at Avery with his hockey stick, Avery then grabbed his stick and threw it on the ice.

O’Brien will miss Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Wild.
