Media blog series one on one interview

Today’s blog is on the Media Blog series. I have the pleasure of following some great Media personalities, and today I have a one-on-one interview. I call this the Simple Four Question interview. It is really not, but I got the four questions right.

Today questions are with GutsMctvish, a Vancouver 24 Hours newspaper columnist.  He is also a Syndicated humor columnist with Sun Media Corp.

There are high expectations of the Canucks this season from the fans.  What would you consider a successful season? Is it Cup or nothing?   For you is anything less than a Stanley Cup acceptable in your mind?

A true successful season would be getting to round 2 again, and this time winning. Conference finals would serve notice to the West that this is a team to be reckoned with for the next few years.

The Canucks really have to at least make to the Conference Finals. I think they have a very good chance  of getting there.

The second question: I have heard a lot of people tell me the Canucks still have a terrific defense; one of the best in the League.  Do you think the Canucks have among the best defenses in the League?

For the first time in years the Canucks can honestly say they have more than one offensive puck-mover on the blueline. Problem is, it comes at a cost (toughness). The two games vs. their biggest rival the Flames certainly exposed this.

Schneider will improve this and give some support to the younger defense.  Edler and Bieska  are great pieces.  Great insight on the defense.

I am very fond of Mason Raymond. I really think he is a good one. I was just wondering  your opinion of Mason. Is he for real?

Unfortunately for Raymond, his numbers will be the true judge of if he’s for real or not. The rest so far is a ton of speed and potential.

I love Mason. He is a terrific player, but unfortunately hockey is often balanced on the numbers.  A great point by Guts.

Fourth and last question: Do the Canucks win the division, or where do they finish this season?

I had them winning the Northwest at the start of the season, but injuries have clearly derailed that call. In the long run, the division is Calgary’s to lose. The Canucks will make a solid late push for second.

Once the Canucks get healthy, they will be a force. They are beginning to make noise, and with the injury to  Luongo, it will make him fresher at the end of the Season.  Great  insight again by the columnist.

Just wondering, may I tell them how to follow you on twitter, and do you have a web site that you would like to let my readers know about for yourself?

You can find me at gutsmctavish24/Twittercom

Canucks columnist for Vancouver 24 Hours. Sun Media Corp.

I again would like to thank Guts for the interview. I hope to find some more media personal in the future.

Until next time, take care.
