Practice Notes Line Combo’s
I was at the Flames practice this afternoon and saw something odd – a very-well oiled machine. It was organized and all business. It was like they were reading my blogs. They spent most of this practice in getting the puck out of their zone. The Flames biggest weakness, and they were practicing it. Imagine that.
Sutter had each line practice this drill over and over again. They were flying down the line doing the drills with vigor. Yes, I said with vigor. The coaches pushed them hard, but more importantly they did with fun. The coaches were in charge, but the players were buying into it. So here are some small notes from the practice, in point form.
- Line combos were the same as they have been during the game.
- Moss skated with the team, but not with any lines. He is coming close. He told me he wants to be in the line-up. He is about 80 to 100 percent healthy.
- Kipper was looking very well. He looks very confident. He was playing jokes on the players.
- Olli and Nystrom Sjostrom were really communicating well out there, getting to know each other.
- Defense combos were the same. It looks like Pardy may very well be the odd man out.
- Jbo was playing with a black eye, but was completely healthy.
- Sjostrom loved the comment I made comparing him to the Savard spin-a-rama.
- The practice looked very crisp. Sutter-run practices are all business.
