Around the league with Anthony
This weeks tidbits around the NHL.
- Canucks F Pavol Demitra will most likely miss the rest of the season for Vancouver as it was learned that he will require more surgery for his injured shoulder. Canucks fans better hope that Grabner is the real deal in order to fill in where Demitra falls out.
- Kings re-sign two. Jonathan Quick and Davis Drewiskey signed identical (of course not monetary value wise) 3 year deals today for LA. As long as the youth core stays, and continues to play the way they have, Dean Lombardi is a genius. Watch out Western Conference, the Kings are not a joke!
- The Phoenix Coyotes keep winning, even with turmoil surrounding the franchise. I’m not too sure how they do it without any pure studs on the team, but if what they have is working, you know what they say: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
- Make it seven, although not Balsille related, could be happening sooner then we expect. Welcome back to the NHL the Quebec Nordiques? As mentioned on this weeks “The Hockey Guys” podcast, Canada needs 2 more teams. But, relocate or expand – that is the question!
- Teenagers scare the living sh*t outta me (as taken from the band “My Chemical Romance”) and they are staying in the NHL. Del Zotto, O’Reilly, Kane, Duchene, Tavares, etc. The boys can play, and are here to stay! The youth of the NHL is making it hard for a lot of veterans to crack NHL rosters. As long as Bettman steps down, the NHL will be amazing for years to come!
And with that, until next week, enjoy the games, the teams you root for, and everything hockey related!
