SABRES GAMELOG: Impressions so far
2 periods played, score 0-0 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Some quick hits:
– Ryan Miller looks (as always) solid in net. Quality stops, though Rinne has seen more shots
– Sabres HAVE to do better on faceoffs. Discrepancy is huge here.
– How about Timmy Kennedy? Three times in the second period he jammed the puck into the slot and gave the Sabres a chance to slam it home; on the third time, Bouillion went after him and Kennedy battled right back. This kid is showing admirable work ethic.
– Tyler Myers looks cool as a defenseman can, showing great poise, a good set of wheels for a defenseman his size, and a great ability to settle down the puck, let his teammates get set up, and bring consistent defensive play to the blueline.
– Sabres are looking unusually good defensively. Slot being (mostly) kept clear; a big problem before. Smart plays are being made, and they aren’t getting into penalty trouble.
Will be back with postgame comments.
