Balsillie to meet NHL brass Wednesday

We learnt yesterday that the Ice Edge group would be meeting with the NHL on Wednesday in Chicago to present its “grassroots Canadian hockey strategy,” but today in court a letter was filed revealing Jim Balsillie will also be attending an “interview” which is “in connection with the [Coyotes] transfer application.”

One presumes, too, that the third bidder, Jerry Reinsdorf, will also be part of whatever discussions take place given he lives in the city.

Balsillie’s camp added that it will provide all of the “transfer application information” requested by the NHL prior to the meeting, details outlined here previously. Present will be NHL vice-president David Zimmerman, who originally requested an interview with Balsillie on July 10, and they will meet at the Chicago Airport Hilton.
