Breaking Down July 1

On the eve of July 1 we have witnessed a fairly big trade between the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens which notably involved Scott Gomez, Chris Higgins and Ryan McDonagh and we have also saw Jay Bouwmeester sign a long term deal in Calgary worth $6.6 million for 5 years.

This is just the tip of the iceberg in my mind, tomorrow, beginning at noon eastern GMs will forget everything about the past, and future and take the same crazy pills as they do at the NHL trade deadline and dish out millions of dollars at very long terms with visions of making the playoffs and winning the Stanley Cup on their mind.

My expectations tomorrow are fairly high, I can see over a dozen UFA’s finding new homes by the end of the day.

I can’t tell you who is going where and for much but like the rest of you I can guess.
